Our vision:The church is a place to learn and practice love, both giving and receiving. It is a two way street. We share love with others. We receive love ourselves. Jesus reminds us: "Where there are two or three gathered in my name, there I am in the midst" (Matthew 18:20). Where love is shared, Christ is present.
The ability to love comes from the Holy Spirit through the encouraging community of faithful people. Such communities make it safe for us to try new ways of living. They also provide stable zones from which to witness and serve the world. This kind of Christian community best takes place in small groups of 12 or less.
Our intentions: With God's help, we will create and nurture an energetic spirit of Christian community.
- Focus: to encourage small groups within the larger congregation. Organizing such groups will take a variety of forms inviting people who are not currently active in the life of the congregation.
Examples: young couples' class, Sunday school classes, youth groups, book clubs, Bible studies, missions teams, and fellowship activities.
- Focus: to actively encourage every member to find six friends, a meaningful responsibility, and become part of a group. Studies suggest that those persons who have accomplished these three goals experience Christian community.
- Focus:to organize natural ways of helping people get to know one another.
- Focus: to make a variety of worship opportunities available
